Funding Opportunities — September 2023
$$$ Opportunity – CA Coastal Resilience Projects – With the State of California making a significant investment in the resilience of the coast, the Coastal Conservancy has substantial funding available to non-profit organizations, public agencies, and federally-recognized tribes for projects that benefit coastal/SF Bay climate resiliency, public access, natural resources, and working lands.
UCOP Climate Action Grants: UCOP has announced the winning grants for the Climate Action program and 5 projects led by Berkeley PI’s were selected. Here is the basic info about the 5 projects and the other 33 winners across the UC and CSU systems. Also, Berkeley faculty were Co-Pi’s on 4 other winning proposals. Finally, UCOP has awarded 15 Innovation and Entrepreneurship awards — $1M each to the 10 UC campuses, the UC Health System, The UC Natural Reserve System, LBNL and LBL. The Berkeley $1M will be split among the Blum Center for Developing Economies, Engineering’s Disaster Lab, CITRIS Foundry, and the Berkeley Climate Change Network.
California 5th Climate Assessment: Proposals for the 5th Assessment were turned in mid-July. We know Berkeley faculty and staff submitted a number of proposals so now we will wait and see — likely announcements in September from OPR.
